[FLIPPOS X LAVA Utopia MCP]
What is the most romantic combination in the sports world?
One is LAVA Sports, which brought the internationally recognized IRONMAN triathlon event to Taiwan, and the other is FLIPPOS, which transforms functional compression socks into works of art. What kind of sparks will fly when these two brands, both on the path to their dreams, come together?
It was a chance encounter when Lin Ze-hao, chairman of Taiwan Triathlon Company, and Gu Chang-ling, founder of FLIPPOS, discussed their dream of creating world-class events in Taiwan. This led to the idea of a collaboration, using reversible socks to convey the concept of an "Ironman Utopia."
The term Utopia originates from Sir Thomas More's book "Utopia," published in 1516, which describes a perfectly ideal commonwealth, much like the Peach Blossom Spring described by the Eastern Jin poet Tao Yuanming – a perfect and ideal realm.
In fact, triathletes are the group that best represents Utopia. They break away from mainstream values in real society to pursue their core ideals of dreams, freedom, and liberation, living out their own attitudes both on the race track and in life.
For triathletes, Utopia is not just an ideal lifestyle, but a realization of self-worth. Starting with oneself and influencing more people – that is the Ironman Utopia.

[Dream Time]
Aboriginal Australians have thrived for over 50,000 years, making them one of the oldest civilizations in the world, possessing a unique culture, beliefs, and worldview. Aboriginal people believe that before humans appeared, the Creator transformed into various totem ancestors, emerging from the earth and descending from the sky, awakening the dark, silent world.
They created the stars, moon, and sun, pieced together mountains, rivers, trees, and lakes into the natural environment, and divided their bodies into humans and animals. This period of creation is known as "Dream Time."
Aboriginal people believe that when a person is born, they leave Dream Time and enter the secular world, but temporarily return during sleep. Upon death, the soul leaves the body's shell and truly returns to Dream Time, awaiting the next reincarnation of the soul. They believe that time and space in Dream Time exist in parallel and occur simultaneously, while time in the secular world has a sequential order.
In other words, our world is just one space and time existing within a parallel universe, and Dream Time is the collection of the entire parallel universe.

    [FLIPPOS X LAVA Utopia]
What could be the most romantic collaboration in the world of sports?
One is LAVA Sports, the brand that brought the internationally recognized IRONMAN triathlon series to Taiwan. The other is FLIPPOS, the brand that transformed performance compression socks into wearable art. What kind of spark would be created when these two brands, both walking their own dream-driven paths, come together?

Through a special opportunity, LAVA Sports Chairman Lin Ze-Hao and FLIPPOS founder Johnny Ku began talking about their shared dream of building a world-class race in Taiwan. That conversation inspired the idea for this collaboration—using FLIPPOS Socks to express the concept of “Triathlon Utopia.”
The term “Utopia” originated from Sir Thomas More’s 1516 book Utopia, in which he described an ideal republic. It is much like the “Peach Blossom Spring” imagined by Eastern Jin poet Tao Yuanming—a perfect and ideal realm.

In fact, triathletes are the very people who best represent utopia. In today’s society, they break away from mainstream values to pursue the core ideals of dreams, freedom, and liberation, living out their own attitude both on the racecourse and in everyday life.
For triathletes, utopia is not merely an ideal lifestyle, but the realization of self-worth. Starting from themselves and then influencing more people around them—that is Triathlon Utopia.

    [Dream Time]
Australian Aboriginal people have existed for more than 50,000 years and are one of the oldest civilizations in the world. They possess a unique culture, belief system, and worldview.

Aboriginal people believe that before humans appeared, the Creator transformed into different totemic ancestral spirits that rose from the earth and descended from the sky, awakening the once dark and silent world. These spirits created the stars, moon, and sun, formed mountains, rivers, trees, and lakes into the natural landscape, and divided their own bodies into humans and animals. This age of creation is known as “Dream Time.”

They believe that when a person is born, the soul leaves Dream Time and enters the secular world, but returns there briefly during sleep. Upon death, the soul leaves the physical body and truly returns to Dream Time, awaiting its next reincarnation. They believe that the time and space of Dream Time exist in parallel and happen simultaneously, while time in the mortal world follows a sequential order.

In other words, our world is merely one space and one timeline within a parallel universe, while Dream Time is the totality of all parallel universes.

    #FLIPPOS Socks Design

    [FLIPPOS X LAVA Utopia]
The design continues LAVA Sports’ volcanic magma concept, drawing inspiration from 1960s hippie poster art. Using an abstract visual language and five representative colors, it expresses the essential elements of triathlon racing, such as blue skies, sunshine, swimming, cycling, running, and the finish arch. In the knitting process, 3D knitting technology is used to give every line more tension and vivid presence.

After flipping the sock down, psychedelic flowing lines are used to express the eruption of volcanic lava, symbolizing the power building up inside every triathlete—Anything is Possible. On another level, it also represents the joy and exhilaration athletes experience in the final running stage: the state known as Runner’s High.

    [Dream Time]
Australian Aboriginal people connect their reverence for totemic ancestral spirits and their longing for Dream Time through art, music, and dance. In this design, we use more delicate dot art, gathering dots into circles of different sizes to create the dimensional feeling of the primal earth. Through the Tree of Life, laden with fruit, we use a biblical metaphor to vividly express humanity leaving Dream Time and opening the origin of life.

After flipping the sock down, we make use of the knitted structure of the sock to create dazzling ripples and geometrically complex visual effects through freely flowing lines, echoing this chaotic yet orderly real world.
