What made you start running?

Everyone has a different reason for starting to run. Most of the reasons we hear tend to be positive—running for health, stress relief, or to look better. But in reality, many people begin running because of negative experiences, such as heartbreak, career setbacks, or even the loss of someone important. They turn to running as a way to redirect their attention or to rethink their purpose in life.
This creative series, themed around the “Taipei Heartbroken Girl,” is in fact a reflection of many runners. Through running, they release what lies deep inside, transforming sorrow and anger into strength. Perhaps there is a “heartbroken girl/boy” living inside all of us, constantly flipping life around on the track of our own journey—Flip your life!

For this project, we specially invited illustrator Su Xia to create a series of graffiti-style artworks, interpreting “Taipei Heartbroken Girl” through the creator’s own emotional journey and the three stages of heartbreak.
For the fabric, we used FLIPPOS’s signature Janerino® Merino Tech Wool. In terms of silhouette, we also experimented with a completely different 3D patchwork cutting design. Both the fabric and graphic prints were approached through a process of “deconstruction and reconstruction” to emphasize the concept of “falling apart”—just like a broken heart that, once healed, becomes even stronger than before.

End of the road—catching the last train back to Taipei, your steps carry a desperate kind of disarray, as if you were fleeing from something. Your reflection in the window, the city rushing by—you hate this painfully clichéd movie scene. You try to squeeze out a few tears, hoping to give the ending a more story-like full stop, only to realize that the sense of freedom outweighs the sadness. Then you smile. Turns out, moving on can happen in an instant. Run! Screw heartbreak. 💔
