Concrete Jungle

In 1973, reggae legend Bob Marley The Wailers released Catch a Fire, with Concrete Jungle as one of its standout tracks. Through the song’s lyrics, it speaks of a lonely soul trapped in an urban jungle. Though the rhythm is light and unmistakably reggae, the voice behind it still carries the helplessness that modern people often feel in the face of real life.

One line in the song says, “No chains around my feet, but I’m not free.” It captures the feeling of a generation of young people leaving their hometowns to struggle in the city. Looking up, all they see are towering buildings, while the beautiful skyline seems to disappear. Even with dreams burning inside, reality often keeps them out of reach.

#FLIPPOS Socks Design
The design features silhouettes of city skyscrapers, including world-famous landmarks such as Taipei 101, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, the Empire State Building in New York, and Big Ben in London.

When FLIPPOS Socks are flipped down, a fierce dinosaur bursts through the concrete skyline and appears in the city at night. It symbolizes the idea that within every person living in the city, there is a free spirit waiting to break out—and that even in difficult surroundings, people will eventually find their own way forward.

This design was created in memory of FLIPPOS founder Johnny Ku’s father, Mr. Ku Yung-Lai, in gratitude for his contribution and dedication to the development of green architecture in Taiwan.
