FLIPLIGHT PACKABLE JACKET (Men)

Military-inspired clothing has always held an important place in fashion history. Some even regard military uniforms as one of the foundations of modern menswear, while within street culture, military pieces have long served as a way for younger generations to express individuality and personal style.

After World War II, shortages of everyday goods led large quantities of military surplus to enter civilian life. Among the youth subcultures of the time, the Mods became especially known for incorporating military outerwear into their style. To protect their expensive suits while riding scooters, they often wore M-65 or M-51 military coats over their tailoring to keep their clothing clean. The look quickly became a defining part of Mod style.

The M-65 and M-51 coats both evolved from the parka. Historical records trace early versions of the parka back to 1625, when Indigenous peoples in Canada used seal and caribou skins to create garments suited for hunting in the extreme Arctic climate. FLIPPOS Running takes this heritage as a starting point and reinterprets the M-51 silhouette to create the FLIPLIGHT Packable Jacket, designed specifically for running. Classic details are retained, including the integrated hood, extended rear hem, and angled side pockets. The extended rear hem is one of the defining features of the M-51: soldiers could tighten the drawcord while marching to improve warmth and wind protection without restricting mobility. On the redesigned FLIPLIGHT Packable Jacket, the drawcords are positioned on both sides and paired with spring-loaded cord locks for easier adjustment. Reflective visibility detailing is expressed through the FLIP Circle motif, giving the jacket a more distinctive identity. The original utility pocket on the left sleeve has also been reimagined—turn it inside out and the entire jacket packs neatly into itself, perfectly embodying the FLIPPOS spirit.
