The caste system is an ancient social class system, the most representative of which is the Indian caste system culture, the culture is built on the Hindu concept of reincarnation. The caste system includes four major castes, which divide Indians into Brahmins (Priests), Kshatriyas (Warriors), Vaisyas (Farmers and Merchants) and Sudras (Slaves or Laborers).
In terms of marriage, justice, social welfare and status, there will be great differences due to different castes.
Dalits (Untouchable) are excluded by the caste system and have been engaged in the most inferior jobs for generations. Among India’s current population of 1.36 billion, at least 200 million are untouchables. Most of them have low social status and poverty, furthermore, women face serious discrimination and personal safety.
After India's independence from the British in 1947, the caste system was officially abolished legally. It is illegal to discriminate against different castes, but in fact the influence of the caste system can still be seen in daily life. However, the Indian government, which has undergone many political party rotations and two terms of Dalit presidents, is still working hard for democracy and human rights equality to overturn the caste system that is deeply rooted in the hearts of most Indians.

The inspiration comes from the traditional Indian art of henna, or Mehendi, which refers to the use of the henna plant for body art. Originating in ancient Egypt over 5,000 years ago, henna spread through the Middle East before becoming an important symbol of blessing and good fortune in India, where it remains an essential part of festivals and weddings. In earlier times, henna in India was often applied by people of lower social status in service to those of higher status. Over time, however, it evolved into an art form that anyone—regardless of age or profession—can learn and practice.
The overall design is inspired by the iconic image of Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom. It incorporates elements such as the Mandala, a traditional symbol representing the center of all things and the wholeness of the universe. At FLIPPOS, we believe that belief begins with thought, so we also integrated the Sahasrara, or crown chakra, symbolizing wisdom and expanded awareness. Paired with Ganesha’s lotus seat, the Lotus represents purity of heart and the idea that gratitude can lead to happiness. When FLIPPOS Socks are flipped, the lighter tones become the visual focus, symbolizing henna already drawn onto the skin—imbuing us, both spiritually and emotionally, with energy, joy, and good fortune.
